ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the AOC Legal Counsel, this 12 month fixed-term contract will provide support and advice to the AOC on commercial and legal matters in particular National Federation nomination criteria and IP matters.
We are seeking someone who has the ability to work in an environment with multiple priorities and demonstrated experience with Intellectual Property and Commercial contracts.
The key deliverables for this position include:
- Provide legal advice on matters related to the protection of the AOC's intellectual property, the Olympic Insignia Protection Act (OIPA), brand protection matters and related AOC by-laws, policies, guidelines and documents of the AOC and IOC.
- Assist with drafting of and reviewing commercial agreements for the supply of goods or services to the AOC and Australian Olympic Teams, identifying risks and working with the relevant department(s) to ensure the AOC rights and obligations can be and are being fulfilled.
- Assist with drafting of terms and conditions for various AOC initiatives including websites, third party suppliers or sporting bodies.
- Assist with drafting of nomination criteria and management of appeals processes
- Provide advice and take appropriate action relating to brand protection matters.
- Draft Sponsorship Agreements and Supplier Agreements, as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
In addition to the below selection criteria it is critical that the individual is able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The selection criteria includes:
- Bachelor of Laws
- Demonstrated experience with Intellectual Property and Commercial contracts
- Experience in sports law is highly desirable
- Excellent drafting skills
- Strong organisational, communication and computer skills (excellent excel and word skills)
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
