Tribunal Members - WA Basketball
Basketball WA are seeking to expand their pool of volunteer Tribunal Members within the WA region to independently and impartially review and adjudicate matters arising from the game of basketball.
A practicing certificate or previous Tribunal experience is not required for this role as resources, guidelines and optional training will be provided to successful candidates. This role would be suitable for those studying or practicing law with an interest in sporting law/tribunals, those seeking to add opportunities to their professional experience and/or those interested in sport or basketball with a desire to give back and improve the sport.
Those with legal or tribunal experience can also express interest for the role of Chairperson which carries additional responsibilities in conducting tribunals.
Tribunal Members will hear evidence from relevant parties, ask questions of witnesses and charged persons, review evidence and ultimately, in consultation with the other Tribunal members, decide on the charged persons guilt and/or penalty.
Please include your location or preferred location for attending Tribunals if relevant. Otherwise you will be placed in a pool for Basketball WA to provide your contact and availability to the Associations who will contact you directly.
Most tribunals are held on a week night outside working hours (approximately 5.00pm onwards). Each Association is in charge of setting the specific time and date and can be tailored to Tribunal members availability.
Basketball WA encourages people from remote WA locations and different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from different cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities.
