Players' Status Officer - Football Federation Australia

Football Australia, the national governing body for football, is currently seeking a full-time Players’ Status Officer, starting March 2021 and based in Sydney.

Reporting to the Legal Counsel – Regulatory, and targeted at supporting the delivery of Football Australia’s XI Principles, the Players’ Status Officer will administer and manage the process for international transfer certificates for footballers in Australia, manage the registration of players with Football Australia for the National Leagues and provide advice to key internal and external stakeholders on the regulatory framework in relation to the registration of players applying to domestic and international football.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the registration of players with Football Australia, coordinating with domestic and international stakeholders regarding the registration of players with Football Australia
  • Coordinate with National Associations and Member Federations (and where necessary FIFA) to facilitate the international transfers of players
  • Coordinate and manage the operation of the Domestic Transfer System and facilitate compliance with, enforcement of, and education regarding the regulatory framework in respect of the Domestic Transfer System
  • Assist in the administration of the player compensation system to ensure compliance with Football Australia’s obligations to FIFA and Football Australia’s clubs
  • Coordinate and prepare applications to FIFA’s Players’ Status Committee as required, including in relation to the international transfer of minors in Australia and the eligibility of players to play for Australian representative teams
  • Liaise with stakeholders to prepare minor applications for the sub-committee of the FIFA Players’ Status Committee and provide associated regulatory support regarding the process

Experience and skills required:

  • Administrative competence & disciplines
  • Understanding of regulations and regulatory procedure
  • Familiarity with the football industry, football law and regulations, and best practices will be an added advantage
  • Team player, excellent communicator, ability to think through problems & achieve effective solutions, innovative & constantly seeking better ways of doing things
  • Strong attention to detail, high standards of integrity, ability to represent Football Australia interests
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of contemporary sporting competitions & tournaments
  • Effective knowledge of IT & communication systems & platforms
  • Commitment to work as a member of a small team in a dynamic environment

  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours
