ANZSLA Webinar (23 August): Tortious and Statutory Liability of Event Organisers
ANZSLA invites you to attend a webinar with expert guest speakers Simon Grant (Barrister, 19Inns) and Dr Eric Windholz (Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law, Monash University). This session will be introduced by Dr Annette Greenhow (ANZSLA Director).
The Queensland case of USM Events Pty Ltd v James [2023] QCA 71 highlights the importance of event organisers giving careful thought about how best to make their events safe, and the consequences of failing to do so. In this seminar, Queensland barrister Simon Grant discusses the case, the principles that determine liability at common law, and the steps event organisers need to take to discharge their duty of care. Monash Law academic Eric Windholz will then discuss the potential liability of event organisers under work health and safety law, drawing out similarities and differences with the common law.
This free webinar is open to ANZSLA members only (members must login to the website to gain access).
Legal practitioners may claim CPD for attendance at this event.
Please register via the form at the bottom of this page. A Zoom link will then be emailed in advance of the webinar.
