5.30pm to 6.30pm (AEST) - Refreshments and Networking | 6.30pm to 7.30pm (AEST) - Presentation
ANZSLA members and guests are invited to attend a presentation by guest speaker, Robyn Chatwood (Partner, Dentons) discussing the ethical and legal issues for athletes associated with wearable tech, biometrics.
Wearable technology is fast becoming the hottest trend for measuring, monitoring and managing athlete performance. The technology includes smart goggles allowing swimmers to monitor speed and stroke rate; biosensors to measure a cyclist’s glucose; patches monitoring hydration; and smart fabrics and smart rings that measure skin temperature and monitor sleep. There is a growing sports tech market offering sensor tech, computing power, data storage and advanced analytics. This presentation will address some of the legal and ethical issues including data ownership, monetising data, licensing data to improve fan engagement, privacy issues and protecting athlete’s rights, and the interplay between emotional artificial intelligence and wearable tech.
Legal practitioners may claim 1 CPD point for attendance at this event. The presentation will be followed by refreshments and a networking opportunity.
